A Legend Retires

One of the best running backs of the 21st century, Matt Forte, has retired after 10 seasons. Forte gave his statement to sportsspectrum.com and sent it out on twitter:

Matt Forte is a legend and almost certainly a hall of famer. He was a workhorse for years with the Chicago Bears, and, as @NFLResearch pointed out on Twitter, Matt Forte finished his career with 14,468 scrimmage yards. This is the most scrimmage yards in the last 10 seasons by nearly 1,000 yards (LeSean McCoy is second) and ranks #28 all-time. Many, including myself, consider him to be one of the best pass-catching running backs in NFL history. His success also translated to fantasy football, where he was a reliable RB1 for a number of years. The man was electric.

Career highlights:

-most receptions in a single season by RB (102)

-9,796 rushing yards (#33 all-time)

-554 receptions (#9 all-time among RBs)

-4,672 receiving yards

-2x pro bowl selections

-75 total touchdowns

-5x 1,000+ yard rushing seasons

-8x 1,200+ yard from scrimmage seasons

-99.1 scrimmage yards per game

-4x top 10 fantasy RB

Thank you Matt Forte for 10 great seasons.
