The NFL Combine is an integral scouting tool that NFL teams use to evaluate prospects for the upcoming draft.
The on-field results are important, but so too are things like player interview periods and meetings between individual players and teams. These meetings can be a good indication of what teams are looking for in terms of positional needs; for instance, the Patriots have conducted interviews with players like QB Luke Falk, LB Rashaan Evans, and RB Sony Michel (among others). However, it’s difficult to get a read on how these interactions will impact the draft until the free agency dust has settled. For now, we’ll take a look at the tangible, numbers-based tests performed by the players.
It’s important to note that, due to either injuries or a preference to perform during the Pro Day cycle, several notable players did not participate in certain measurable drills (i.e. Lamar Jackson did not run the 40-yard dash). With that being said, here are the Combine leaders at each position in each drill through the first three days via NFL.com (defensive backs will perform tomorrow):
